Job Introduction
Our Finance team, based at head office in Birmingham Business Park Solihull, are recruiting an Accounts Payable Assistant responsible for ensuring suppliers and subcontractors are paid accurately and on time. Reporting into the Accounts Payable Supervisor, you’ll work closely with 3-4 Accounts Payable Assistants, driving performance and offering daily support to ensure the function is operating effectively and efficiently – ideally utilising previous CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) knowledge.
Main Responsibility
This role involves managing the accounts payable/subcontract ledger – with a particular focus on CIS deductions. You’ll support the AP Supervisor/Manager with preparing payment runs for suppliers and ongoing reconciliation of all supplier accounts, in addition, to motivating and supporting a small team of AP Assistants. You’ll oversee some HMRC interactions including monthly returns and verification of subcontractor status’s, whilst ideally providing CIS technical knowledge/advice.
The Ideal Candidate
For this role we’re looking for someone with previous CIS experience – so it’s preferred that the successful candidate has a construction industry background. You must have led a small finance team previously and be comfortable commuting to Solihull to work onsite in the office with the rest of the team. Desirably you’ll have some kind of finance qualification ie AAT although this isn’t a deal breaker. We need a people orientated supervisor with a driven work ethic who’s committed to maintaining high working standards.
